Valentine Dessert Auction and
"Battle of the Bakers"

Each year Soroptimist International of Riverside ("SIR") hosts it's highly anticipated Annual Valentine Dessert Auction and Luncheon. This is one of Riverside's premier charity events.
The event features "The Battle of the Bakers". Local professional bakers create and donate two identical desserts. Each entry competes for such titles as Best Traditional Cake, Best Specialty Cake, Best Cheesecake, and Best Pastry/Brownies/Cookies. Awards are also given for Best Presentation, Best Chocolate, Most Decadent, and Most Creative. Scroll down for the 2008 winners.
A distinguished panel of judges sample each entry. Judges include local professional chefs. This year's judges will include: Sue Tatosian, Community Liaison, Robert Sevaley, The Cooking Store; and Marla Cohen, Phood for Thought, dba Phood on Main, Resturant, Executive Chef.
Once the judging is complete guests attending the luncheon have the opportunity to bid on both the dessert that was part of the competition as well as the second, complete entry. Martha Green, Owner, Dough'Lectibles Bakery and the Eating Room (Redlands) will be this year's presiding Auctioneer.
The live auction also includes several non-dessert items and we have a room set aside for our silent auction baskets. All items have been donated by community merchants. There is something for everyone. Please join us for a fun filled event.
All funds and proceeds go directly to service projects adopted by SIR. Every dollar donated goes directly to needy causes in our community. None can be used for administrative or operating expenses of SIR.
