Each year Soroptimist International of Riverside ("SIR") hosts it's highly anticipated Annual Valentine Dessert Auction and Dinner. This is one of Riverside's premier charity events.
The event features "The Battle of the Bakers". Local professional bakers create and donate two identical desserts. Each entry competes for such titles as Best Cupcakes, Best Cookie/Brownie, Best Chocolate Cake, and Best Non-Chocolate Cake. Click here to see the 2011 winners.
A distinguished panel of judges scores each entry for taste, presentation and difficulty. Each entry is identified by a entry number so the judges do not know which dessert belongs to which baker. Judges include local professional chefs. Our 2012 judges will be Marla Cohen, Phood on Main, Executive Chef; David Cohen, Dining Editor of the Inland Empire Magazine. The second cake will be on display in the Grand Ballroom for our guests to judge.
Once the judging is complete guests attending the dinner will have the opportunity to bid on the entries during our live auction. Martha Green, Owner, Dough'Lectibles Bakery and the Eating Room in Redlands, will be our auctioneer.
The live auction also includes several non-dessert items such as bidding to be our 2013 Honorary Taster; Helicopter Orientation Flight; a one-week stay at Vizcaya at the Trails in Las Vegas; dinner at Mario's Place; a one-week Vacation Condo at the Outrigger Maui Eldorado Resort, Hawaii; just to name a few. We also have our Silent Auction Baskets and Wine Auction. All items have been donated by community merchants. Please join us for a fun filled evening.
All funds and proceeds go directly to service projects selected by Soroptimist International Riverside. Every dollar donated goes directly to needy causes in our community. No funds or proceeds from our Auction can be used for administrative or operating expenses for Soroptimist International Riverside.
